This Georgia girl just loves this book! John Schulz really knows how to
build pictures with words. His characters are truly unforgettable and
reading about them brings to mind folks I have known. Schulz' dialogue
is wonderfully true to the type of character he creates. Reading this
book made me want to be a part of the North Georgia life that he
depicts. (I live in South GA.) I sure do hope that he has a sequel in
mind because I really want to know how things turned out for Lou Ann
after this part of the story ended. This is one of those books I hated
to see come to an end!

This is one of the best books to read at night or on a plane. Read it
aloud to someone. The chapters are short but full of humanity, humor,
and humility. Life is short, don't miss this one. I loved it.

Product Description
Requiem for a Redneck is a sometimes wild, sometimes funny, and
sometimes sensitive picture of redneck doings in the north Georgia
mountains. The stories will make you laugh, make you cry, and make the
ladies go aww. Requiem for a Redneck presents you with a collection of
stories that revolve around the death of Harce. You will meet John the
Plant Man, the narrator who tells the stories from an insider's point
of view. You will meet Harce, the sawmill operator who can build
anything, Louann, Harce's old lady; his friends Kickstand, Greg the
preacher, and many more unique characters. And you will meet Bud, who
is one of the greatest unheralded humorists in the redneck countryside.
Requiem for a Redneck has been written with short chapters which invite
the reader to move on and see what happens next. It is priced at the
cost of one hour's labor for most of the characters. Without preaching,
Requiem for a Redneck deals with drug and alcohol abuse and with
contractual morality. The book deals with adapting to life in the
modern world through the use of a set of creative coping devices. The
book presents a humorous, insightful, and compellingly sensitive
picture of a hidden world.
